So, I was doing a reference sheet for one of my characters, and then just as I finished filling in the eyes, I looked at it, and I think for the first time in a long time, I freaked out and went Holy Shit! He’s staring at me…

I think that’s the first time I’ve ever looked at my own work and felt afraid.

Does anyone else feel the same way, or is it just me?

This is something I try to stress to everyone. Improved my understanding of shading tenfold.

I still suffer from this when I forget to lay down a light map/paint in a rough gradient before I start working. This is helpful!

I had someone comment saying they thought he looked like his dentist being unhappy with the state of his patient’s teeth because of all the holes and cavities. Either that, or a psychiatrist saying something like “So, my good sir, since when have you seen the giant pink elephant cleaning your windows with chocolate milk?”
